One of the most essential skills as an entrepreneur (and just a generally amazing human being!) is to be able to change your state at any time. As you develop this skill, it becomes a superpower for entrepreneurs. And one of my favorite ways to build this skill? Meditation! And even more specifically: My Take 5 Meditation Method.
Before we dive into The TAKE 5 method, let's talk about some of the great reasons to explore meditation in the first place.
Managing stress: One study even showed how a certain meditation method can reduce the inflammation response from stress. Read more about it here.
Strengthens your attention span: For an entrepreneur with a million things calling for your attention, you know just how important a strong attention span is!
Improved sleep: Do racing, runaway thoughts keep you up at night? A meditation practice can help you control these thoughts and fall asleep better and improve your sleep quality, too!
You can practice anywhere, anytime: There's no need for fancy equipment or a gym membership to get into the habit of meditation. All it takes is a few minutes (literally!) each day, whether it's in your car, on your nightly walk, in the comfort of your own home, or even in the midst of a busy workday.
Less stress, better focus, great sleep...these are all superpowers in and of themselves. But the ability to use meditation to change your state is a truly invaluable resource for entrepreneurs.
When's the last time you felt completely overwhelmed? Deadlines piling up? Tasks to finish? Bills to pay? As an entrepreneur, this struggle is all too familiar.
But here's the thing: it doesn't need to be this way. It doesn't always have to be a grind–it can change. But to change how you FEEL, you need to change your STATE.
So, want to become an at-cause creator rather than a victim of your situation?
It all comes down to strengthening the superpower advantage of being able to change your state at any given moment! Yes–even in the thick of any and all chaos you might encounter.
I know right now you're focused on growing your business (I can help!). And I also know it can be challenging to actually take the time to work on these skills.
But know this: the meditation method I'm about to share will help you CREATE even MORE time!
So on that note, allow me to introduce you to what I call The TAKE 5!
The Take 5 Method is a stop, drop, and roll way to reclaim your state and take back your power at any moment.
Pause what you are doing. Prepare to take a 5-Minute Break.
Set a timer for five minutes, whether it's on your watch, your phone, your computer, or a good old fashioned kitchen timer.
Eyes closed, open, or fixed softly on a spot in your sightline.
Inhale for 5 breaths. Pause for 5 breaths. Exhale for 5 Breaths. Pause for 5 Breaths.
Repeat steps one through four until your five-minute timer goes off. There, you've done it!
You've just finished your first go at my TAKE 5 Meditation Method.
How do you feel now? Refreshed? Recharged? Ready to tackle whatever comes your way with the strength and calm you see in others but didn't think was possible for yourself?
Finding the meditation method that works best for you might take some work. Those who are new to meditation often try to start too big or too fast – even experienced meditators could struggle with an hour-long meditation! Don't put yourself through this. Instead, pick a quick, straightforward meditation method like The TAKE 5 to get started.
Pop quiz: Can you tell me what's so different about The TAKE 5 compared to many other meditation methods?
Unlike other meditations that have you focus on your words or clearing your mind, this practice has you focus on your breath. With this single point of focus, your brain can truly relax. Your body can get revitalized with more oxygen, raising your vibration and energizing every cell in your being! (If you'd like to learn more about how to raise your vibration, click here!)
