I know how tempting it can be to “go it alone” as an entrepreneur. I’ve been there myself. But I’ve also learned the hard way that we can’t do it ALL alone. Or at least not with as much grace and ease.
There are so many different ways to find the support we need to get the most out of our business and our life. For me, one of the most invaluable forms of support I’ve found is hiring a business coach.
Whether these are waters you’re ready to dip your toe in or you’re not quite convinced if hiring a business coach might be right for you, you won’t want to miss the rest of this post.
Today, I’m going to share with you five ways hiring a business coach can help you uplevel not only your business, but also your life!
When you’re accountable only to yourself, it can be easier to let things slide. After all, if you break a promise to yourself, you’re “only” breaking it to yourself. But time and time again, research shows how having someone to be accountable to can help us reach our goals.
When you hire a business coach, one of the biggest benefits you’ll find is not only being accountable to them, but they will also teach you how to be accountable to YOURSELF.
(By the way, I talk a lot more about accountability, commitments, and making your word gold in this post)
You can be really, really good at something, but if it isn’t aligned with who you are, it’s never going to feel great. If you have been operating a business based on what you’re good at but not necessarily what you love, a business coach can help you find a way to align your business with who YOU are.
All of this isn’t to say you necessarily need to start from scratch and create a whole new business. Instead, there can be ways to outsource certain tasks that aren’t in your zone of genius, giving you more time to focus on what’s most aligned with who you are.
Often, a business coach has a keen eye for opportunities where you can spend more time and energy on what you love while figuring out a way to make sure everything else is taken care of by people who thrive at those tasks that don’t light you up the same way.
Almost always, business coaches become business coaches because they have extensive experience running their own successful businesses. Teaching others to do the same is a natural progression for many business owners. And during their experience as a business owner, they gain valuable insight that can be passed along to you through their coaching.
But keep in mind, you don’t need to hire a business coach who has experience running the exact same kind of business as you–not even close.
Most people who have started or operated successful businesses have learned lessons that will benefit ANY business owner, including you! Hiring a business coach gives you a front row seat and behind-the-scenes pass to all of their valuable business (and life) experiences, lessons, and resources.
Over time, many businesses become stagnant. You’re making money, but you’re not making MORE money than last year or last month. Your client base is stable, but it hasn’t really changed. Sometimes, all it takes is a fresh (and experienced) set of eyes to look for ways you can uplevel your business.
Hiring a business coach is a great way to discover opportunities for growing your business.
From the products and services you offer to ways you can increase revenue, grow your client base, or boost your business in any other way, your business coach will offer a fresh perspective that could lead to the kind of change and growth you never thought was possible.
Let me guess–on any given day, you wear about a million different hats along with “entrepreneur” or “business owner.” Mom, dad, friend, caregiver, pet owner, and so on and so on. For many business owners with a lot of responsibility in addition to what’s required of them in their business, putting themselves (and their business) before their other responsibilities can be tough.
But part of the magic of hiring a business coach is the way it prioritizes YOU and YOUR business! Even if it’s for one hour a week when you work with your coach, this is one hour dedicated just to you and to growing your business.
On top of giving yourself and your business this dedicated time, your business coach can help you manage all of these hats (AKA competing priorities), so you’re not in a constant state of choosing between what you HAVE to do and what you WANT to do.
What one entrepreneur needs from a business coach can be different than the next. But it’s so worth spending the time and effort to find the right fit for you!
